Such a great rundown of the ongoing cold war between the US and China. The complexities of national identity and independence often trip up individuals on the left. No formulaic answer can ever be enough to define right and wrong today. The national question in China is many-sided, but, as was outlined, Tibet and Xinjiang face similar demands. China’s ruling class (CCP) will maintain its hold over an ever increasing economy and pursue its interests to that end. So, leftists are faced with arguing for opposition to our own ruling class interests if sense is to be made of conflict between competing capitalists. Neither Washington nor Beijing!
